Un editorial del diario mexicano La Jornada – ONG, vehículos de desinformación-, puso nuevamente en debate el tema de las organizaciones no gubernamentales, insertadas en el imaginario colectivo por una intensa y agresiva campaña publicitaria por los medios hegemónico, como integrantes del llamado campo popular.

El editorial denuncia que varias ONG publicaron un comunicado conjunto en el cual sostienen que, de ser aprobada, la iniciativa de reforma eléctrica enviada por el gobierno al Congreso, afectaría los derechos humanos a la salud, a un medio ambiente sano y a la participación ciudadana, además de que se alejaría al país de cumplir sus metas nacionales de transición energética y acuerdos climáticos internacionales.

The organisation of our economies has driven two of the biggest global crises the world faces: pandemics, of which Covid-19 will not be the last, and the climate and ecological breakdown. On top of actual infections and deaths experienced by families, Covid-19 is also affecting every person and community due to lockdowns, prolonged workplace closures, suspension of classes, travel restrictions and general economic impacts. However, it does not do so equally. The pandemic has exposed and exacerbated existing inequalities and injustices and the structural inequalities play a significant role in determining who lives and who dies.

Experts say Covid-19 survivors may go on to develop long Covid, creating a generation left with chronic health problems and disability, the personal and economic impacts of which might be felt for decades to come. The UN has already acknowledged that Covid-19 has also wiped out years of progress in the 15-year global work on the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, which was already off track in 2019.

        El surgimiento del neoliberalismo fue, al mismo tiempo, el inicio de la campaña frontal de crítica y descalificación del Estado. Las críticas a su incompetencia, su burocracia, por ser fuente de corrupción, por no tener dinamismo económico, por gastar demasiados recursos en servidores públicos, por descaracterizar erróneamente la competencia del libre mercado, por su carácter autoritário – se concentraron en el Estado.

        En definitiva, sin Estado o con un Estado mínimo, la sociedad funcionaría mejor, la economía sería más dinámica, los precios serían más bajos, habría más democracia. Esta promesa neoliberal, de hecho, se traduce en la centralidad del mercado, la supresión de los derechos de la gran mayoría de la población, la mercantilización de la sociedad, la imposición del reino del dinero, donde todo tiene un precio, todo es mercancía, todo se vende, todo se compra.

An ICIJ Investigation: Based upon the most expansive leak of tax haven files in history, the investigation reveals the secret deals and hidden assets of more than 330 politicians and high-level public officials in more than 90 countries and territories, including 35 country leaders. The Pandora Papers lays bare the global entanglement of political power and secretive offshore finance.

ICIJ obtained more than 11.9 million financial records, containing 2.94 terabytes of confidential information from 14 offshore service providers, enterprises that set up and manage shell companies and trusts in tax havens around the globe. ICIJ shared the files with 150 media partners, launching the broadest collaboration in journalism history. For nearly two years, ICIJ organized and led an investigation that grew to encompass more than 600 journalists in 117 countries and territories.

Deeply diverging recoveries threaten to undermine trust and solidarity and make the world more vulnerable to future crises, including climate change. In response the UN and ILO have established a ‘Global Accelerator’ to help ensure global financing to create 400 million jobs and extend social protection to 4 billion people currently without coverage.

Los ciudadanos y las ciudadanas no están hartos de la política, sino de esta política; la inmensa mayoría de la ciudadanía no se moviliza políticamente ni sale a la calle a manifestarse, pero está llena de rabia en casa y simpatiza con los que se manifiestan; en general, no se afilian a partidos ni participan en movimientos sociales ni están interesados en hacerlo, pero cuando salen a la calle solo sorprenden a las élites políticas que han perdido el contacto con “las bases”.
